Stampless folded letter datelined London 1800, and carried to New York via the" Nino", where it received the New York "clam shell" postmark, and manuscript SH19, for the 17ct rate from NY to Providence, RI, with 2cts added for ship fee.

Welcome to I am pleased to offer stampless letters, with content ranging from the Colonial period up to the 1820's. Topics will include French and Indian war soldier's letters, soldiers letters and other letters associated with the Colonial period and the Revolutionary War, both American and British, and letters associated with the War of 1812 period. I will also offer ship letters incoming to the US in all periods up to the 1830's.

Many of these letters were carried privately and have no postal markings. Many others were placed in the mails, and will be offered based on their postmarks, and rates. The postal markings will cover the same period as the letters, and will include ship markings, as well. I will also offer letters bearing the postal rates used during the War of 1812 period.
